QRCS receives Accreditation Canada health care accreditation

6/25/2023

Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) held today morning a ceremony to honor its Medical Affairs Division staff who effectively contributed to its platinum-level accreditation by Accreditation Canada.

QRCS passed the final survey at the four Workers' Health Centers, operated by QRCS under a cooperation agreement with Qatar's Ministry of Public Health (MOPH).

The ceremony was attended by Yousef bin Ali Al-Khater, President, Faisal Mohamed Al-Emadi, Acting Secretary-General, Abdullah Sultan Al-Qattan, Executive Director of the Medical Affairs Division, senior heads of department, employees, and medical professionals.

Mr. Al-Khater described the accreditation as a new achievement made by the Medical Affairs Division, inspired by QRCS's long history, as well as its local and international track record.

“This international accreditation would translate into more trust from the government and other partners in QRCS's capabilities and efficiency, through the adoption of the best practices and strategies of health care management, to ensure optimal primary health care services for the public," added Mr. Al-Khater.

Emphasizing the importance of honoring those working hard and making exceptional efforts, he urged everyone to be more creative and dedicated, in order to maintain QRCS's leading position and good reputation in social, medical, and humanitarian arenas.

Over the past 17 months, 10 primary teams from QRCS worked to meet all requirements, which included nine standards and 891 criteria, with no external consultation. The cycle involved (1) readiness assessment, (2) simulated survey, and (3) final survey, with QRCS scoring 97.8%.

The critical success factors included leadership support, strategic preparation, teamwork, team structure, accountability, and competency.

In particular, the surveyors commended QRCS's collaborative working relationships, pride in helping and serving others, and high level of knowledge regarding quality concepts among department heads.

This achievement comes just after QRCS's ISO 9001:2015 certification (quality management system), as a result of the Board of Directors' special attention to organizational development, governance, transparency, and administrative excellence.
